7/16/18 - Monday

We are up at 0500 or so and on our way to the airport at 0550.  The French WC victory may cause us traffic problems...
TANNA - it has been a long difficult trek to get there and we aren't there yet.  I have my fingers crossed.

Waiting for our flight to Tanna Airport.

On the road in Werry's truck to the main town of Lenakel.

Soccer fans celebrating the French victory in the world cup.

The Wednesday market at Lenakel.

Kawa is a very important part of life in Vanuatu.

Lots of beautiful fruits and vegetables in the market.

On the road down in to the valley leading to Mt. Yasur.. seen in the distance.

Some of the road was surfaced but most of it was dirt and cinders.

A household / family that has a roadside stand.  They appear to be taking it pretty easy today.

Mt. Yasur in the distance.

Some sort of baked nut ... they called it chestnut but I don't know exactly what it was... it does taste like chestnut.

Tanna Island is largely uninhabited and people generally live in small villages.  The track above and below represent the trip required to get from Iminaka Airport in Far Left to Resolution Bay in the far right.

A closer view shows the trip from Tanna airport to resolution bay.  The path took us across the cinder plain around Mt. Yasur on the way to Resolution Bay/

Thierry Work on the Lanai of our bungalow looking out over Resolution Bay.  The boats in the bay are mostly cruisers that are anchored here for a short period.

The grounds of the "yacht club."

The grave of one of the early missionaries that was supported/protected by the Narua family.

A restaurant in the village near the Yacht Club.

The "clubhouse" of the yacht club where we ate a couple of meals and downed a couple of Tuskers.
