7/15/18 - Sunday

I had a good nights sleep and awoke at 0700 h.  Got a call from Balazs this morning that he decided he couldn't afford to risk not getting back to Fiji from Vanuatu so he has canceled out on the volcano trip.  Thierry and I will endeavor to make the trip.  They have scheduled us to go back to the airport at 1130 h and check in for a1500 h flight.  We are a bit worried about the flight from Vila to Tanna as we missed todays flight and are hoping that we can get a reservation on that flight tomorrow.

We will see as the day unfolds.

continuing:
We left the hotel at around 1000 h on a bus taking another group of "cancelled flight" customers to the airport.  We got there around 1030 h but the air vanuatu desk didn't open until 1200 hours... anyhow, we were able to check our bags in but they said, because of the large number of people on this plane, that our luggage might not make it on... mine didn't.
So, while we made it to Port Vila ok, I am stuck with basically one change of clothes for three days... not that I am complaining but!!!!!!

We were able to get to our hotel around 1800 hours and got checked in ok.  We went down and had a couple of beers and then decided that we needed some rest.  We are going to get up at 0500 to catch an 0800 flight to Tanna... we hope.  I will let you know what happens but I doubt that there will be any internet where we are going...

What an adventure!!!

The Nalagi Hotel... our home for the cancelled flight night!!
The Air Vanuatu plane in comparison to a Boeing 787-- it was actually a good 2.5 hour flight with minimum turbulence!  Unfortunately, they elected to leave my luggage in Nadi.. there were a dozen or so of us that this happened to.

After we landed at Bauerfield, Vanuatu.

Thierry just coming off of the plane.

The Melanesian Hotel the night we got there... a bit of a cultural show.

Thierry joined in the cannibal dance...
